The glass capsule is held in place with a silicone gasket at the top end and a rubber disk on the plastic screw-on bottom. It's not waterproof; if you wash it in a dishwasher or submerge it, water will definitely get into the space between the capsule and the shell. Even if the top connection is waterproof, the bottom one isn't; it's just plastic-on-plastic. It can be disassembled, but if you're not mechanically inclined, it's not easy to put back together.
An all-metal Thermos is more durable and much easier to take care of, but a glass-lined Thermos won't impart a metallic taste to its contents, and will stay hot longer. So it depends on whether the benefit outweighs the extra trouble.
I am a tea drinker, and stainless steel makes it taste metallic--not good. So I look for insulated beverage containers with glass liners. I make tea the old-fashioned way, with a teapot, and make two cups at a time. One goes into my mug, and the other waits inside my Thermos. My last one broke, so I was in the market for a new one. This one is relatively inexpensive but has some nice features, which are shown in the accompanying photos. The product comes in three colors--red, blue, and green--but buyers can't choose which one they get. It seems that would be an easy thing to accommodate.
Pros:
1. Heat retention: This one works better--keeps hot beverages at serving temperature longer than the last three or four I've had over the years. The top portion of the thermos, the part the cup covers when applied, gets a little warm, but putting on the cup may help prevent heat loss. The wider, lower part of the product remains cool to the touch, indicating good heat retention. I've stored a cup of tea in the thermos now for three hours, and if it cooled, I couldn't tell. Impressive.
2. The lid is well designed, seals well, and is easy to screw on.
3. This product has a pour spout, which I've not seen before. Not necessary but a nice touch.
4. The bottom of the cup has three bumps designed to keep the cup a short distance above table or desk surfaces--maybe to help keep the beverage warm? Also not necessary but a nice touch.
5. A rubber, non-slip piece is on the inside of the handle, something I've not previously seen. Another nice touch.
A concern: The inside bottom of the cup has what appears to be two pieces of clear tape covering two scored lines. See photos. I don't think I'll be drinking out of the cup because of the possibility of drinking whatever adhesive is on the tape. That's weird, and is the reason for lowering the score by a star.

If you plan is to use it right next to your coffee maker then it would be very useful. It certainly keeps the coffee hot.
